All saddlebags; side bags and sissy bar bags come with a 4mm thick HDPE (polyethylene thermoplastic) back panel; unless mentioned otherwise. This is same material of which; for instance; kayaks are made; to ensure maximum strength & shape retention under harsh conditions. The reinforcing plate is sewn onto the leather; giving it excellent strength and great universal mounting options. A special groove is cut into the HDPE back plate; allowing for lowered stitching in the groove; below the surface of the back plate. This protects stitching from abrasion.
